The following is one example of the lessons that incorporate Sqelixw language. This lesson is taken from the Montana Office of Public Instruction’s Indian Education for All: Traditional Games Unit (International Traditional Games Society, 2013). The Sqelixw words and phrases were inserted by April Charlo, Confederated Salish & Kootenai tribal member and Special Olympics of Montana (SOMT) Director.

There is great diversity among individual American Indians as identity is developed, defined and redefined by many entities, organizations, and people. A continuum of Indian identity, unique to each individual, ranges from assimilated to traditional. There is no generic American Indian (Montana Office of Public Instruction Indian Education for All Unit, 2019).
