Summer 1989 I was asked by Dr. Antoinette Oberg to teach a graduate course in the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria. Many students that summer took a course from me in the morning and one from Ted Aoki (2005) in the afternoon. Several times both Ted and I were separately asked if we consulted about our classes and planned some sort of mutual venture over the two courses. We did not. Instead, both of us were, in a fashion, concerned in similar ways with similar circumstances, similar lived realities. In talking about curriculum, both of us went to the same place by quite different paths. Ted and I giggled more than once over the weird lot of those students that summer.
