Rooted in decolonial and queer theory, this chapter argues for the direct and intentional teaching of queer social studies. To do this, pre-service teachers, even selfidentified justice oriented pre-service teachers, need to be pushed to reflect upon and re-examine their beliefs of including more queer in the “straight history.” A series of activities is described, designed to spur self-analysis while simultaneously teaching pre-service teachers how to be more inclusive of queer history within social science, thereby bending the history that has been for so long been made too “straight.”
