This chapter presents findings from a study examining the representative nature of public charter school policy. Findings indicate that the autonomy public charter school policy provides decreases the level of responsibility public charter school authorities and leaders exhibit to the local community, and that decrease creates a disconnect between the public charter school and its local community, sometimes leading to issues of equity in access. Implications for policy and research are presented.
