The National Service-Learning in Teacher Education Partnership (NSLTEP) was a 6-year collaborative project funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service to advance the integration of service-learning in teacher preparation. Throughout NSLTEP’s history, expanding the knowledge base on service-learning in teacher education was a vital goal. This chapter reports on the two strands of research conducted as part of the collaborative: studies of practice (e.g., the current status of service-learning, challenges associated with implementation, and good practice) and studies of impacts (e.g., impacts on preservice teacher dispositions, prosocial reasoning, and beliefs about teaching and learning).
