This book consists of a collection of chapters that reflect the complex nature of foreign language reading with adults. Each report offers new empirical evidence to substantiate comprehensive theories of foreign language reading. This volume is not an exhaustive representation of all variables involved in reading research and theory; rather, it serves to advance existing knowledge on the topic. The research presented involves a variety of languages, different stages of L2 acquisition, and diverse research methodologies. Each paper went through a rigorous review process and was anonymously reviewed by applied linguists in the field. The purpose of bringing these papers together is to illustrate the diversity and unique perspectives of each researcher while simultaneously showing that there are pieces of a shared, comprehensive, and interactive theory reflected in each paper. The book is primarily intended for those concerned with data driven evidence to support second language reading research, theory and practice with adults.
