First page of Talent Development in Non-State and Joint-Venture Enterprises in Vietnam

Talent, or talented human resource, has pinpointed the success of organizations in the context of changing environment and globalization (Nafukho, Dirani, & Irby, 2017). In line with that global tendency, organizations in Vietnam, particularly in the business sector, are striving to develop their talents for organizational performance and growth (“Vietnam: Enterprises need to invest,” 2010). Being characterized with dynamic and active in major fronts, non-state and joint-venture businesses are the targeted population that this book chapter focuses on regarding talent development (TD).

The purpose of this chapter is to explore talented human resources situation in Vietnam and implementation of talent development approaches in the business sector. In particular, the author will look at the state of talented human resources in the business sector in Vietnam, their definition of talent development and deployment of talent development programs and initiatives. Such bases will provide the implications for business talent development in Vietnam with reference to international and regional experience.
