First page of A Proposed Workforce Development Planning Model in Ethiopia

In this chapter, we proposed a model for national workforce development planning in the Ethiopia context. Developing the competence of the workforce has become a critical issue in many developing countries. However, a question that consistently arises is how to best develop and deliver workplace training and development programs that both match the requirements of the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Qualifications Framework in use and is responsive to the changing needs of employers. This question is particularly the case in developing nations such as Ethiopia. The Ethiopian National Qualification Framework in the making is expected to guide individuals and training providers on how to prepare to enter the workforce.
