This panel is the first in a series of forums that will focus on the role that the private sector, the government, the education establishment, and teachers play, respectively, in enhancing and improving teacher quality. With the historic federal legislation of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) addressing the critical issue of teacher quality and student achievement, our nation’s attention is now focused on the need to ensure that every child has a high quality teacher every year he or she is in school.
This critical and urgent attention to teacher quality has prompted many across the private sector to get involved in creating solutions to America’s educational challenges. Our distinguished panelists today contribute a wealth of expertise, ranging from classroom and administrative experience to education research, government and the media.
