The media normally seeks to maintain an image of impartiality and accuracy in journalism, why then would it consent to being manipulated? The obvious answer is that they are owned and controlled by larger interest groups, from both the public and private sector, who seek to maintain control over the populace through mainstream media outlets for the furthering of their own agenda and ideologies and to maintain the status quo. It is well known that the vast majority of main- stream media outlets are owned or controlled by a few institutions or individuals.
Nearly all published information is influenced by some dominant ideology or personal views, which is usually motivated by a political or economic outlook. The financial sector is especially prone to this sort of media manipulation due to its importance as an indicator of the vitality of a nation and to portray an image of attractive investment opportunities.
