This study explores, shares, and documents the experiences and perceptions of 25 students from the Caribbean studying at universities in the United States. Using qualitative inquiry and oral history method, the two researchers aimed at exploring and sharing the participant-testimonies of American schooling and culture. The narratives afford a portrait of survival, resilience, and hope. The participants maintained their sense of identity, linking this to nationality and ethnicity along with a readiness to utilize multiple constructs of identity. The results also reveal areas where greater collaboration between Americans and new immigrants can enhance appreciation and academic achievement for all.
