In a contribution to the international conference of the Management Consulting Division of the Academy of Management (AOM) in 200 f, Adams and Zanzi (200 f) described and critiqued the current landscape of existing curricula and training seminars in management consulting education. They stated that

Since then, the situation has been but slowly evolving as testified by Starbuck (2006) who argued that “academic research that is based on managers’ perceptions has a very unreliable foundation” (p. 65). indeed, present improvements are not up to the expectations of a growing industry which demands a higher and higher level of professionalism from the part of consultants.
