Chapter 26: Lessons Learned From The Development Of Innovative Mathematics Materials

Discussed here are lessons learned from the development and testing of the secondary school mathematics materials by the University of Chicago School Mathematics Project (UCSMP), with particular emphasis on the use of technology, mathematical language, and newer content areas. Discussed also are inherent difficulties of testing innovations, such as using the traditional experimental-comparison research paradigm.
