First page of Overcoming Roadblocks on My Cross-Cultural Journey

I woke with a start. It was just after 5:00 a.m. in our two-bedroom student apartment on the campus of the University of Georgia at Athens (UGA). I checked first on Daniel, my 23-day-old son. He lay peacefully in his crib. I next checked on my 8-year-old daughter, who was sleeping quietly in her little bed next to mine. I then walked into the next room to find my 67-year- old father moaning in pain. He said he was not feeling well, but would rather not go to the hospital. A few hours of rest was all he needed, he insisted.
