I have conducted several research studies on international students, and it was a story told by an Indian international student, Ishaan. He was very excited to pursue his master degree in the United States., but the breakout of COVID-19 in 2019 forced his learning, social life, and travel paused, or delayed. He was in the dormitory by himself during the interview. He expressed that he valued American education, campus life, social and cultural experiences that can enhance his future career brighter. Unfortunately, he was disappointed to miss in-person interactions, and immersion opportunities while studying in the United States. Emotionally, he constantly looked for ways to lower his stress and worry to complete his study. Socially, he began to witness the conflicts what American society that embraces the diversity, inclusion and, equity. He worried about his safety because of racism and discrimination, and the COVID-19 pandemic has intensified discrimination against East Asians, and other ethnic minority groups.
