Abstract
This study investigates the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies within religious tourism, focusing on their impact on community development in Mandi District, Himachal Pradesh. It aims to explore how AI-driven strategies can create new market spaces in religious tourism, enhancing customer experience and promoting sustainable business growth.
Employing a qualitative research methodology, the study analyzes various AI applications—such as chatbots, predictive analytics, virtual/augmented reality tours, sentiment analysis, and crowd/resource management—in the context of religious tourism. Data were collected through case studies, interviews with stakeholders, and analysis of existing literature to assess the effectiveness and implications of these technologies.
The research reveals that AI technologies significantly enhance tourist engagement and satisfaction by providing personalized experiences and efficient information dissemination. Predictive analytics and sentiment analysis offer valuable insights into visitor trends and feedback, facilitating better decision-making for stakeholders. Virtual and augmented reality technologies enrich the tourist experience by providing immersive tours of religious sites. AI-driven crowd and resource management systems improve safety and optimize resource allocation during peak tourist seasons. Collectively, these technologies contribute to economic diversification, cultural preservation, and infrastructural development within the community.
This study provides a novel perspective on the application of AI in religious tourism, highlighting its potential to transform traditional practices and contribute to community development. It offers valuable insights for policymakers, tourism authorities, and community leaders aiming to implement AI-driven strategies for sustainable growth in the religious tourism sector.
