Responsible Service Management (RSM) represents the ethical and sustainable coordination of service ecosystems, ensuring that technological innovations align with societal well-being. Central to RSM are the principles of inclusivity, transparency, accountability, and fairness, which are critical to navigating the complexities of Service 4.0. As digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) continue to revolutionise services, RSM provides a framework for harnessing these advancements while safeguarding human rights, addressing ethical challenges, and promoting sustainability.
This book synthesises a diverse range of perspectives to examine the challenges and opportunities associated with RSM. The first part frames the ethical and societal dilemmas arising from digital transformation, such as algorithmic biases, threats to privacy, and economic exploitation. These discussions underline the shared responsibility of stakeholders – providers, users, and regulators – to create a digital landscape that is equitable and inclusive. At the same time, it emphasises the need for adaptable, context-sensitive solutions that address the unique cultural and regulatory nuances of a globalised world.
