Smart cities aim to integrate advanced technologies and innovative practices to enhance the efficiency and quality of urban services, including healthcare. In the dentistry industry, the provision of high-quality services significantly depends on employee satisfaction, which leads to improved work performance, productivity and organisational commitment. This study explores factors affecting job satisfaction and commitment in Kuwait’s public and private dental sectors. The research utilised Meyer and Allen’s organisational commitment scale and a survey designed per the standardised Minnesota Job Satisfaction questionnaire for job satisfaction. Multiple regression analyses were performed on a sample of 225 dentists to determine the connection between job satisfaction elements and organisational commitment factors. The results revealed a correlation between job satisfaction and organisational commitment, with significant differences between public and private sectors. Moreover, the findings indicated that dentists often remain in their organisations due to moral obligations and limited alternatives. These insights highlight the potential for adopting smart city principles, such as digital health systems and Artificial Intelligence–driven management tools, to foster job satisfaction and enhance commitment in dentistry, ultimately elevating the quality of dental care services.
