This chapter draws on the experience of a high school Dual‑Enrollment English support teacher navigating the world of online teaching while attempting to provide guidance and knowledge to high school students in an early college high school. Best practices and valuable online platforms used before and during the COVID‑19 pandemic are discussed. Before the pandemic, the engaging and active practices were student and parent agreement forms, traditional but effective note‑taking skills, and face‑to-face teacher‑student writing conferences. The drastic change from in-person teaching to online learning led to finding new and appropriate ways to help high school students succeed in a dual‑enrolled college English course. Online platforms like Google Classroom, Screencast‑O-Matic, and the BAND app made teaching online much less daunting, which helped students succeed at the high school and college level. In the end, the use of active and engaging classroom practices for face‑to-face and virtual learning were combined to offer students opportunities to achieve their academic goals no matter what the future holds.
