This chapter discusses the Africanization of pedagogy and curriculum of Artificial Intelligence (AI) education in South African universities. Throughout a literature-based critical analysis, the author explores the necessity of including the critiques of ethical and philosophical assumptions of AI education. Subsequently, the author examines the current strategies and pedagogies of contextualizing AI education in South African universities. The chapter aims to disrupt colonial legacies in technology and align AI education with African values and needs. The analysis may benefit the development of equitable and practical AI education for future higher education scholars, practitioners, and policymakers in the global South.
