The global supply chain is evolving, and in order to make it more robust, flexible, and sustainable, new solutions are required. This chapter explores how supply chain management (SCM) can be revolutionized by the metaverse, a fusion of blockchain, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality, which enables immersive, real-time virtual collaboration. Teams may work together as if they were in the same physical area thanks to virtual meeting rooms, AR-based training, and VR workspaces, which reduce travel, expedite decision-making, and promote sustainability. The development of digital twins, or virtual representations of real assets and supply chains, is one of the significant advances in this field. These provide proactive risk management, real-time tracking, and predictive analytics, which streamline processes and use less energy and waste. By offering safe, traceable transactions, guaranteeing compliance, and decentralizing decision-making for greater operational flexibility, blockchain also increases supply chain accountability and transparency. High technical requirements, concerns about data privacy, interoperability, and resistance from traditional management hierarchies all pose threats to the metaverse’s acceptance despite its potential. With an emphasis on industry norms and methodical adoption plans, the chapter emphasizes solutions for progressive integration. It highlights the metaverse as a transformative force in SCM through case studies and practical applications, promoting effectiveness, sustainability, and adaptability in a dynamic global setting.
