Gender inequality remains a problem that hinders the socio-economic development of nations. This inequality manifests in various aspects, including limited access to education, employment, healthcare, and leadership positions for women. According to the World Economic Forum (2023), the gender gap stands at 68.4%, underscoring the persistent nature of these disparities despite some improvements over time. Furthermore, women experience numerous challenges within different fields of work and study, which impact their employment rates, salaries, and limited employment opportunities. These disparities are particularly most felt in areas where culture, especially when women are relegated to subordinate roles following societal traditions, does not support women’s rights, and where the laws do not provide adequate protection to women (UN Women, 2021).
