A rapidly expanding subset of the travel and wellness industries, nature-based health tourism, offers special chances to improve mental, emotional, and physical well-being through pursuits like eco-therapy, forest bathing, and wellness retreats. In this chapter, the psychological advantages of nature-based health tourism are examined, with a focus on wellness retreats, eco-therapy, and forest bathing in the Indian setting. Interest in therapeutic nature experiences that promote emotional resilience and stress alleviation has grown in the post-pandemic age due to the mental health crisis. The chapter illustrates how nature-based tourism might promote holistic mental health through case studies and stakeholder interviews. Additionally, it talks about doable ways to incorporate these methods into community-driven, Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)-aligned sustainable tourism initiatives. The chapter gives policymakers and business executives practical suggestions based on case studies, quantitative data, and qualitative stakeholder interviews. These observations seek to ensure the long-term incorporation of nature-based health tourism into the global tourist framework by maximising its benefits and minimising any potential negative effects.
