Chapter 8: Enabling Technologies

The magical world in which we sentient humans will live, supported by smart environments and machines, is forming as we speak. The technologies needed for enabling the magical world are shown pictorially in Exhibit 8.1. These technologies by sensing, connecting, computing, and transporting will create experiences that will encompass all aspects of our lives. To provide confidence that the coming of magic is real and to understand the nature of the magicians we start this chapter with examples that set the perspective for why the enabling technologies that are described in this chapter are necessary and provide evidence that their rollout is underway.
