The authors have mapped the responses of leadership practitioners on 21 different leadership theories and its thematic categories. It was noticed that the definitions of leadership theories have evolved with changing times. The data were content analysed. The theoretical relevance has been identified from the respondents’ data. The findings of the content analysis have been presented in Table 1, and are in chronological order of development. Some of the responses were in alignment with the extant theories but some of the responses of Indian leaders have diverged from the established 21 leadership theories. Table 1 presents both the divergent and convergent aspects of the findings with the 21 leadership theories.
