Practicing individual contemplation and meditation can help participants wade through mind chatter, center themselves in the midst of distractions and challenges, and enhance awareness of emotions and environment. This activity asks participants to reflect on a recent leadership moment and engage in mindfulness that can be applied to future leadership moments.

When planning for this activity, the physical space is the most important consideration. While the space can be indoors or outdoors, consider finding a place free from interruptions and with comfortable seating (carpet, soft ground, soft chairs). Ensure the space is free from loud noises and other people will not be walking into the area. The facilitator should allow for ample time by pausing when providing each prompt or direction. Avoid rushing through to allow participants ample opportunity for contemplation.
