This chapter corresponds to Annex G of EN 1994-1-1, which has the following clauses.
Annex G is new in Eurocode 4. The comments on clause 8.6.9.2, which covers the same subject, explain why its scope had to be reduced. The more recent method of Annex G has wider scope, is longer, more complex and, in some situations, more conservative. To avoid presenting alternative methods, the use of Annex G is limited to situations outside the reduced scope of clause 8.6.9.2. Even its wider scope does not cover the whole of current practice, as it is limited by the available results from research. The depth of steel profile is limited to 135 mm, but sheeting deeper than 200 mm is in use. Background information is available in Vigneri et al. (2022).
