Education 5.0 is here (Carvalho, 2023; Shahidi Hamedani et al., 2024), and Caribbean higher education institutions must either embrace it or get left behind! There is no return to the way we educated students prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, which marked a significant shift in the how societies operated, and resulted in an unprecedented use of technology that has reshaped all sectors including education (Baker-Gardner & Deans, 2022; Nelson, 2020). The evolution and use of GenAI is resulting in an even greater shift, and it is not possible to turn back the clock. Based on poor education outcomes which have been magnified by the pandemic (Hosta, 2022), Caribbean governments now need to chart a new course for educating future citizens.
