Chapter Summary
In this chapter, the authors explore the knowledge assets, spaces, and places of formal learning as second spaces. The authors consider several types of formal learning spaces, including primary, intermediate, secondary schools, vocational schools, colleges, and universities. The blueprint of a secondary school serves as an archetype for understanding the spatial syntax of learning. The value of learning in a knowledge society is also discussed.
