Industrial internet platforms are essential constructs in digital systems. Yet prior scholarship has not considered the dual entrepreneurship opportunities roles’ activities of industrial internet platforms to establish their sequential developmental processes and inner motivation in emerging economies. Building upon the structural embeddedness perspective, this study aims to address how industrial internet platforms achieve a continuous transition between discovered and created opportunities in emerging economies.
The scholarship reports on a case-based, longitudinal study of the different developmental stages of Jwell in the turbulent years between 2013 and 2021.
Findings reveal that the interaction between “closed complex” networks and “open experimentation” networks can facilitate the switching of corporate networks between “stable” and “unstable” states, thereby promoting the continuous emergence of different types of opportunities.
This study provides theoretical and practical insights for understanding the entrepreneurial process of industrial internet platforms. It reveals the dual entrepreneurial opportunity transition process mechanisms, contributing to relevant research in the field.
