About Competitiveness Review

Aims and scope

Competitiveness Review (CR) is an international scholarly journal dedicated to advancing research on the competitiveness of locations and firms, as well as on the determinants, dynamics and implications of competitiveness at the firm, industry, regional, national and international levels. The journal recognizes the interdependent relationship between firm competitiveness and the locational, institutional and broader contextual conditions in which firms operate.

The journal examines how firms and locations develop and sustain competitive advantages, enhance productivity and prosperity, and respond to economic, technological, institutional, environmental and geopolitical transformations. It explores how location-specific assets, capabilities, institutions, policies and broader contextual conditions shape firm strategies and performance, as well as how firms contribute to the competitiveness and development of the locations in which they operate. It provides a platform for interdisciplinary research connecting business strategy, international business, economics, regional development and public policy.

The journal publishes original empirical research, theoretical and conceptual contributions, systematic literature reviews and policy-oriented analyses. Contributions should advance understanding of competitiveness at one or more levels of analysis, including the relationships between firms and their operating environments, and, where relevant, provide implications for business decision-making, location development or public policy.
