HannStar Board expected to take a 50-70 per cent global share of netbook PCB market in 2009
Article Type: Industry news From: Circuit World, Volume 35, Issue 2
HannStar Board, a Taiwan-based PCB maker, has become a supplier of netbook-use PCBs for almost all major netbook vendors, including Asustek Computer, Acer, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Elitegroup Computer Systems and Micro-Star International. The company is expected to take a global share of at least 50 per cent, perhaps even reaching 70 per cent for related PCBs in 2009,according to industry sources. Other Taiwan-based PCB makers such as Gold Circuit Electronics and Tripod Technology compete in the segment as well, but success hinges on cost control based on economies of scale, HannStar pointed out. HannStar shipped more than 6 million netbook-use PCBs in 2008.
