Teknek Electronics of Inchinnan, Glasgow, (UK) has acquired a 75 percent shareholding in PL Automation of Odense, Denmark. Teknek, the inventors and world leaders in contact cleaning technology for the printed circuit board industry, employ over 185 people in two sites in the West of Scotland.
PL Automation, specialists in board handling and automation equipment have 35 employees and a strong reputation for quality automation both in the printed circuit industry and the electronics assembly market. Until now, PL Automation has concentrated mostly on the Scandinavian and European markets. Speaking about the developments Teknek's managing director, Jonathan Kennett says, "Teknek's Global network of distributors will provide a readymade outlet for PL Automation's products and as a result, considerable expansion is expected in both companies".
Pouli Staid, PL Automation's founder and managing director described the synergistic opportunity of PL's manufacturing and Teknek's sales and marketing presence as a "win win" for both organisations. He continues as managing director for PL Automation. Group sales are expected to top $40 million (USA).
