Purpose
– Paper provides nine guidelines for successful global organizational development.
Design/methodology/approach
– Paper is based on author's 25 years in global organizational development.
Findings
– Nine guidelines described, including “be authentic, not corporate”.
Practical implications
– Guidelines will help practitioners in planning and implementing global organizational development. Some of the guidelines, such as “slow beats fast” are counterintuitive and encourage practitioners to re-think their approaches.
Originality/value
– Paper offers a very human approach to global organizational development.
