Purpose – Explains what continued professional development is and how organizations can support their employees to undertake it. Design/methodology/approach – Gives a definition of a professional, which sets out the skills and activities that being a member of a profession requires. Advises on the structures and processes that organizations can put in place to support employees in their continuing professional development. Findings –Argues that continuing professional development is a valuable and practical tool that will help organization to develop their own human capital.
