Online Ecological and Environmental Data Free

Recent developments have enabled environmental and ecological data to become available online. So the six papers included in this publication explore the difficulties with such data and the projects, particularly based at NASA and the USGS, which have provided the initiatives for dealing with them. The papers cover: design of interdisciplinary data for global environmental change research; cataloguing; data networks; IST developments in biological information; the Syracuse Research Corporation's chemical information database and the StreamNet project which is a portal for shared fish and fisheries information in the Columbia Basin.
