Women in the Workforce, Alternative Choices for Women from Coalmin‐ing Areas is a European project which evolved in 1992 from a partnership link between the DOVE (Dulais Opportunity for Voluntary Enterprise) Workshop, a Community Education and Training Centre in Banwen, West Glamorgan, South Wales and IFOLD (Istituto Formazione Orientamento Lavoro Donne) a women's only training organisation in Sardinia, Italy. Italy is one of three European trans‐national partners, the others are Belgium and Spain. The Guidance Unit of University College Swansea became involved in the project because of the guidance aspect of IFOLD's work.
