Media programme extended

By the end of the year eight more countries will benefit from the EU Media programme of aid to the audiovisual industries.

The programme, which includes money for training workers in the audiovisual industries, will be extended to Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia,Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia and Cyprus. Slovenia and other candidates for EU membership are also expected to join the programme soon. The countries will each pay into the Media budget, partly from their own funds and partly from the Phare programme of EU help.
