European commissioner backs closer links between education and research

Closer links are needed between education, research, innovation and employment, to create a common vision of the challenges ahead, says the European commissioner for education and training, Mrs Viviane Reding.

"These different policies all have their own roots, their own public targets and their own means of achieving them," she told a meeting of education ministers. "They do not always integrate well, but there are natural synergies between them."
