A British-German Website has recently been created with the aim of raising awareness and promoting interest among young people in the culture, life and language of the other country.
The Website provides information, for instance, on jobs, vocational training and careers; exchange visits and placements; travel for study or pleasure;reciprocal recognition of qualifications and exam certificates; background facts and figures on Britain and Germany. A further section is devoted to language learning, with links to online activities and courses. It will enable young people from Britain and Germany to communicate direct via their computers and establish virtual contacts. Newsflashes will keep browsers up-to-date with forthcoming events, projects and activities (e.g. Expo2000 in Hannover and other millennium events).
This Website project is co-ordinated by the Germany Embassy in London and the Youth Exchange Centre/Central Bureau in co-operation with the German-British Forum. The Website can be accessed at http://www.bgconnection.com
