Before libraries make the decision to implement CD‐ROM technology, they must take into account many factors. Deciding to set up CD‐ROM workstations certainly has a financial impact on the library's budget as well as an ongoing impact on staff at the Reference desk. Costs, training staff and end users, hardware compatibility, software concerns, multiple products, and networking are all concerns which will need to be addressed by libraries in their decision to take the plunge into CD‐ROM. This article will address some of these concerns faced by libraries today.
