Staff development and appraisal in further education

Many colleges are now involved in the implementation of formal staff development policies, and it may be helpful to colleges setting about this task to see how the job has been tackled in one particular college. For the past three years or so the author has been Chairman of the Staff Development Committee in a large college of technology, and this paper gives an account of staff development and appraisal in the college during this period, together with references to work in other colleges.
