Realism in office practice

When office jobs were plentiful, it was common in many schools and colleges for students to be attached to local firms for varying periods of business employment to gain first‐hand experience of office work. This was an ideal arrangement, as it reinforced in a very practical way much of what was taught in Office Practice in the classroom; and, after returning from employment with the business experience gained, the student was able to contribute more effectively in office practice class discussions and to appreciate the relevance of the subject.
