“To consider the present system of awards from public funds to students attending first degree courses at universities and comparable courses at other institutions and to make recommendations”. These were the terms of reference of the Anderson Committee, which was appointed in June 1958 and produced its report in June of this year. John Wellens discusses the Report with particular reference to the effects its recommendations might have on industrial training and technical education.
