A healthy society depends upon healthy industrial organisations which provide us with the goods and services we need, and in which a large proportion of the population spend much of their working lives. By a healthy organisation I mean one which meets the demands of its markets, satisfies the needs of its members for satisfying and well‐rewarded work, and produces sufficient profits to service its capital and provide for replacement and development of its capital resources.
