Education‐industry link schemes give teachers and pupils valuable insights into the conditions, problems, opportunities and challenges that arise in the wider working world, said junior education Minister William Shelton, speaking at the launch of the Devon Science and Technology Regional Organisation. He added that one of the additional benefits was that they also gave people in the industrial world a corresponding insight into the educational world — the opportunity to appreciate what schools could do, how they do it and, no less importantly, what they could not reasonably be expected to do.
