The article on Technical Teacher Training by A. MacLennan in the last issue makes one or two statements which do not stand up to examination. He says that we can no longer depend on recruitment from industry, and makes a few observations on why industry skilled men may not be suitable. This is not to understand when Teacher Training advertisements offer a basic starting figure of £520 per annum. Would any skilled tradesman now in the engineering industry even consider this as a reasonable salary? Most of them now receive almost double this.
