TECs were launched in March 1989, under the White Paper, “Employment for the 1990s”, with a remit which includes executive responsibility for local delivery of the government enterprise training programmes,researching local labour market needs, liaison with all local bodies concerned with enterprise and encouraging more private sector investment in training initiatives. The highlights from a one day seminar on the future role of TECs at the National Conference of Institute of Personnel Management are presented.
