A partnership between the University of Glamorgan, the Welsh Joint Education Committee, Antur Tefi, Cymni Cynnal, three English regions and French, Dutch and Italian partners has been awarded £2.9 million by the European Union to develop open and distance learning.
The Euronet project will develop and pilot "training the trainers" courses to teach the skills needed to deliver training though interactive Websites and video-conferencing.
Lynne Gornall, project evaluator, comments: "Faster and more cost-effective than traditional methods of training, these possibilities will make commercial sense, for small and medium-size enterprises in particular."
The partners aim to set up a brokerage system, the first of its kind in Britain, and a support mechanism to advise on the availability of new training materials and how to link into virtual training.
