Subject
Tensions between Bosnia and Croatia.
Significance
Diplomatic relations between Bosnia-Hercegovina (BiH) and Croatia have reached their lowest point since the 1990s. Three main issues create stumbling-blocks: Islamist terrorism, Bosnian Croat separatism and historical war crimes.
Impacts
Unfounded allegations about Islamic terrorists in Wahhabi settlements will severely damage Bosnia’s international image.
Revived Bosnian Croat separatism has antagonised Bosniaks and US, German, UK and other Western diplomats.
Croatia sees the Neum bridge as a crucial project allowing tourists access to Dubrovnik without crossing an EU border.
